We back for another one to peel back the ways that [Breeze – Straight] was made.
After yesterday understanding of “(Breeze – Straight) Single Series Day 4 out of 31: Song Writing Reference Track”, today we are going to take a look under the hood of what are all the elements that made the song idea for [Breeze – Straight].
Most people don’t understand that there is a great amount of work that goes into cooking up a song.
So much so, it’s actually why most people call the studio “The Lab” because you are constantly working towards making something out of nothing.
There is a certain flow that I in particular use to ensure that my song is will prepared for, not only the world stage, but to be good enough to put all this time into reverse engineering the song to give you a look under the hood of the song!
Without a strong song idea that serves as the foundation of the track, nothing else that is being done is worth the effort to continue on that song.
The reference tracks plays a major role in for my in coming up with the song idea.
You can consider this almost the catalyst for my process of creating a song.
I like to break my songs up into 5 different parts.
The theme, the emotions it makes me feel, the emotions that it will make others feel, the marketability of the song, and in what situations would people mostly like feel inclined to listen to my music.
This is a 3 part explanation over the next 3 days that you will not want to miss.

The Theme
As an entrepreneur, I believe in using systems and frameworks in every thing I do.
Just like genre templates that are really nothing more than a system and a framework that increases the speed to create beats expeditiously, I have a framework for the lyrical content of the songs.
Step 1. Reference Track
As you know from Day 4 Single Series: Songwriting Reference Track, my melodic and lyrical content come from just freestyling to get a sense and feel of what can be the best way to use my voice to entertain.
Step 2. Choosing a theme.
When thinking of a theme, I think of what source of inspiration am I going to pull from.
There are 4 different themes that I can pull from.
Personal, universal, storytelling, and a mixture of all of them.
1. Personal Experiences.
Personal themes are solely routed in experience.
You can almost think about this as niche marketing if it was transferred into the marketing world.
A situation that you go through and written about can have the effect to reach a small segment of an audience that increases the fandom by having experience this very same experience.
This theme generally can reach a wide audience of people if enough people have similar experiences or interests.
As an example, songwriting about a particular anime may not be a widely accepted or even understood concept but if that song finds those who watched and are a fan of that anime then I know I’ve found a winning song.
Another example could be a song about you drinking at a bar and falling in love with a stripper.
Not a very common theme but people can imagine such a scenario occurring which makes it a more universal theme.
2. Universal Theme.
Universal theme comes all in the form of love, pain, friendship, and much more that can connect with a much wider range of people.
Everyone has experience pain, happiness, sadness, loss, friendship, grief, and much more which means that these themes can help reach a wider audience.
The song writing also won’t be as specific as talking about a certain aspect of a situation but more so written about in generalities.
If I feel in love with a girl name Sofia, that is not a universal theme but more of a personal experience that I went through that will connect mostly importantly with a girl name Sofia or people dating Sofia.
This is not a universal theme but to say that you feel in love with a female is what is a universal theme.
3. Narrative Themes.
This type of theme is story telling themes.
Making use of this type of theme can use uses by conjuring up original ideas from your life, television shows, movies, real-life events, historical events or figures, imaginary, and using it to paint a picture of what occurred.
Artist underneath the Hip-hop genre tend to use this form of songwriting the most without knowing this is what they are using.
Sometimes it is within the realm of reality, possibility, or someone else story.
Country music also highly depends upon narrative themed songwriting.
An extremely powerful form of songwriting as it doesn’t depend entirely upon having experiencing the narrative themselves in order to make people feel or imagine they can find themselves in the same situation that artist been through.
4. A combination of all.
I personally feel that depending on your skill as a songwriter, you become innovative enough to be able to combine different themes to create something unique.
You can create a storyout a personal experience using the personal theme and the narrative theme.
By doing so, you then amplify the songwriting by using universal language that will allow a wider range of people to relate by nothing going to in-dept in detail as to what occurred.
The Reveal Behind A Song Idea
I wanted to give you an insight into what the methods that I use to create all my songs.
Now that you have a better understanding, I will now reveal all the things that I tend to ask myself at each step of the writing process for my song creation.
I developed this method by studying and writing tons of songs.
Rewriting songs, singing, looking at the structure, studying, and using what I learned as a tool for my own music.
With all of this data and practice that I collected, I asked myself a set of important questions that help me come up with the song idea for [Breeze – Straight].
I aim to do it in a manner as if I am being interviewed by my label as a means to create a dialogue between myself and the people who would manage and distribute my catalog for you to enjoy.
Sykeside: From what you’ve got so far, what will the idea of [Breeze – Straight] going to be?
Breeze: From the reference song, the song seems to be placed within the confines of hustling.
Sykeside: Did you have the beat made out in your mind before or was the beat freshly made?
Breeze: The beat was freshly made and because I made beats, I turned it into something as i got finished with the entire production.
Sykeside: When you get a song idea does it stem from a feeling you’re having at the moment?
Breeze: I aim to try to make the best of my emotions and emote that in the music.
Sykeside: Is this song going to be based on your life?
Breeze: Some lines are obviously fabricated to match lyrics together in unison but the base principle i try to aim to base the lyrics off my life.
Sykeside: Did the beat influence what the idea of this song would be?
Breeze: No, for this song it was never a function of how the beat progresses but of how the song came into existence.
Sykeside: If you could give this song idea away to an artist who would it be and why?
Breeze: I think that Lil baby or Lil Durk would be the best two to make something happen with this song as it would be best performs and stand within the content they make.
Sykeside: How did you come up with the name of the song?
Breeze: I wanted to create something could be relatable to others when they have been scheming to make their dreams a reality.
Sykeside: Who could you see yourself doing a feature with for this song?
Breeze: A feature is interesting but i think that the artist that would best fit for a feature would be Future.
Sykeside: What do you like about the song?
Breeze: The production of the beat as of right now is one that I Feel is the best quality that I’ve attained.
Sykeside: Was the selection of the sounds for the beat difficult?
Breeze: Yes, even though its really 3 sounds, he pace in which the sounds have been going collectively has displayed the measure in which to create a cohesive sound scape has been the biggest difficulty.

Breeze: I think the song will be a creeping success.
The marketplace is filled with such trap/rap music and competition is fierce.

One of the most popular covers songs that has ever been created and generated tons of income is Whitney Houston – I will always love you which was originally written and performed by Dolly Parton.
I grew up only knowing the Whitney Houston Version being too young to knew the Dolly Parton chart climbing original.
